Adult Recreational Swim (Ages 15 +)
This time is set aside for those adults who want to lounge around in
the water or exercise. One slow lap lane will be available. Deep and
shallow water areas are available.

Adult Beginner Swim Lessons, 15+
Co-ed course covers components of the front crawl. Starting with
floating and the flutter kick. Participants progress to arm stroking and
rhythmic breathing. Class also covers back float and treading water.

Active Older Adults Aqua Fitness
Conducted in the shallow end of the pool, this class uses gentle water
movement exercises to help improve flexibility, strengthen muscles,
enhance cardiovascular fitness and relieve arthritis symptoms.

Active Older Adults
Deep Water Running Class
Conducted in the deep end of the pool, this class challenges you to move
to the next level in your personal fitness program.
Participants must register at the Member Service Desk.

Water Wheelers
For adults recovering from injuries or those with permanent and
temporary disabilities. This recreational swim helps comfort and stretch
sore muscles, cushion aching joints and allow minimal impact range of
motion exercise. Chair lift and flotation devises are available. No
membership is required. Please register at the Member Service Desk.

Water Works Aqua Fitness!
Get and stay in shape with YMCA water aerobic exercise. For beginners,
intermediates, and advanced exercisers, this class provides a complete
workout emphasizing flexibility, cardiovascular conditioning and muscle

Youth Recreational Swim, Ages 6 14
This recreational swim is reserved for YMCA youth members 6 14 to
enjoy the water and the company of other youth members. Children must be able to
stand in the shallow end or swim. Flotation devices are not used, and
parents are not permitted in the water. The YMCA is unable to
accommodate guests during this time.

Family Recreational Swim
A great way to spend quality family time! Family Recreational Swim is
for adults 18 years and older to swim with youth either youth or adult
can be a current member. Non-member must pay a guest fee. An adult must
accompany youth in the water at all times. Only one non-swimmer per
adult permitted. Youth wishing to swim in the deep end must pass a
deep-water test. Member owned flotation devices are permitted. The YMCA
will not provide flotation devices. Guests are welcome to join the fun
on an unlimited basis.
Free to members, $15.00 for each adult guest and $5.00 for each youth
guest or purchase a Parent Activity Guest Pass (and save!) at the front
desk.

Spring 1 Class Schedule
Lessons: Parent/Child
Shrimp, Kippers, Inia, Perch and Perch-Plus classes are for infants and
toddlers, 6-36 months old. Parents should plan to join children in the
water. Registration is based on age rather than skill. Plastic pants
over training pants or swim diapers are required for babies
and those not toilet trained.
Shrimp/Kippers/Inia, 6 to 18 months-30 minute class
Emphasizes basic aquatic safety and provides positive learning
environment for aquatics. Encourages childs independence in water with
parent. Parent must accompany child in pool. Evaluation is not
necessary.
Perch, 12 to 36 months-30 minute class
Teaches basic aquatic boating safety, encourages exploration of skills,
and begins transition to pre-school level. Parent must accompany child
in the pool. Evaluation is not necessary.
Perch, 19 to 36 months-30
minute class
Class description same as Perch, 12 to 36 months
Perch Plus, 2-1/2 to 3 years-30 minute class
30-minute classes for children aged 2 1/2 to 3 years who may not be ready to separate from the parent (or
vice versa!). Children are given extra attention and time to
acclimate to class setting. Focus is on skill
development, safety issues and confidence building. Registration requires instructor recommendation.

Swim Lessons: Preschool
Pike, Eel, Ray and Starfish classes are for children 3-5 years old.
Children should be evaluated
to ensure proper placement.
Evaluations are made on Mondays Wednesdays and Fridays at 4:45 p.m. No appointment
necessary. Children who are at
least three years old and new to the program should enroll in Pike
classes. Written evaluations
and achievement cards will be given to each participant. Please note
parents may observe classes from the pool deck only on assigned dates.
Pike, 3 to 5 years-30 minute class
Beginner skills include bubble blowing, flutter kick and independence in
the water. Evaluation is not necessary.
Eel, 3 to 5 years-30 minute class
Intermediate skills include sculling, rotary breathing and prone
gliding. Evaluation is necessary.
Ray, 3 to 5 years-Width-30 minute class
Advanced skills including front crawl, back crawl, deep-water treading
and survival float. Evaluation is necessary.
Starfish, 3 to 5 years - Length-45 minute class
Creative skills including 75-ft front crawl, back crawl and water
management. Evaluation is necessary.

Swim Lessons:
Youth and Teen
Polliwog, Guppy, Minnow, Fish, Flying Fish, Shark and Porpoise Club is a
progressive series
of programs designed for children ages 6-14 years. Also focusing on six
components
including values, personal safety, personal growth, stroke development,
water sports and
games, and age-appropriate rescue. Each session consists of weekly
45-minute classes. Each
skill level builds upon the preceding level, with seven levels covering
all strokes, diving
fundamentals, and safety skills. Swimmers should be evaluated to ensure
proper placement.
Evaluations are made on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 4:45 p.m. No appointment
necessary. Written evaluations and
achievement cards are issued at successful completion of each level.
Please note parents can observe classes from pool deck only on assigned
dates.
Polliwog, 6 to 8 years-45 minute class

treading water. Ready for lap swimming (2 laps). Evaluation is
necessary.
Fish, 8 to 13 years-45
minute class
Intermediate. Prerequisites: Solid front crawl, backstroke and diving.
Ready for breaststroke kick and dolphin kick, tread water 5 minutes, 100
yards nonstop. Evaluation is necessary.
Flying Fish, 9 to 13 years-45 minute class
Advanced intermediate. Prerequisites: Excellent front crawl,
bilateral breathing, backstroke, shallow and deep-diving skills. Ready
for butterfly and breaststroke, 200 yards nonstop. Evaluation is
necessary.
Shark, 9 to 13 years-45 minute class
Advanced. Prerequisites: Excellent front crawl, backstroke and
coordination in breaststroke and butterfly. Ready for 15-yard under
water swim, tread water 15 minutes, 200 yards nonstop. Evaluation is
necessary.
Porpoise Club, 13 to 14 years-45 minute class
An aquatics club for teens, focusing on YMCA aquatic leadership,
teaching skills, character development, values and community service.
Teens learn to assist instructors with lower-level classes. Perfect for
the aspiring lifeguard or instructor with multiple IM swimming ability.
Swimming evaluation is necessary.

Private Swimming Lessons
Whether you are an adult who is
learning how to swim for the first time, or you have a child who is
getting a late start at learning to swim, private lessons may be the way
to go. You must make an appointment to set up a series of private
lessons. All private lesson appointments must be kept. No refunds or
make-ups will be available. To schedule private lessons, contact

Lifeguard Training - American Red Cross Safety Training Courses
American Red Cross certified,
this class teaches the skills and knowledge to prevent and respond to
emergencies in a pool. This 36-hour course covers lifeguard
training, CPR for the professional rescuer, AED essentials, and oxygen
administration. Attendance at all classes is mandatory. For

Lifeguard
Training course fee: $425.00 per person includes
textbook, pocket mask, and Red Cross certification fees.

Prerequisites:
- Minimum Age 15
- Must be able to swim 300 yards continuously using front crawl and
breaststroke (200 yards of each, the final 100 yards your choice)
- Swim 20 yards and surface dive to retrieve a 10-lb object, return to
the surface, and swim back to the starting point on your back, holding
the brick on your chest.
PRE-COURSE TESTING TAKES PLACE ON THE FIRST DAY OF CLASS AND
IS MANDATORY FOR ALL PARTICIPANTS.
Water
Safety Instructor Training Course
Pre-requisite: Participants must be a
minimum age of 16 on or before the final scheduled
class. In the beginning of the course, there will be a
pre-course session, in which you will be required to
pass a skills test. The skills you must perform are as
follows:
- Front crawl-25 yards
- Back crawl-25 yards
- Breaststroke-25 yards
- Elementary Breastsroke-25 yards
- Sidestroke-25 yards
- Butterfly-15 yards
- Maintain position on back for 1 minute in deep
water (floating or sculling)
- Tread water for 1 minute
All strokes must be performed consistently with
Stroke Performance Level 4
Description: This course prepares
candidates to teach American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim and
general water safety courses. The Initial instructor
certificate that is issued is valid for 2 years.
WSI Course Fee: $450.00 per person includes text books
and certification fees to the American Red Cross.

SHARKS SWIM TEAM!
This competitive program is a
natural advancement for progressive swim participants who are currently
enrolled in the YMCA swimming lesson program. Our team is
composed of boys and girls from 5 to 17 years old. For practices,
swimmers will be grouped according to age/ability. As a member of the
team, each swimmer will enjoy the
benefit of expert coaching within a supportive and friendly environment.
We emphasize teamwork, personal growth, competitive strokes skill
development, and self confidence. The goal of this program is to assist
each individual in developing the skills, physical fitness and positive
attitude needed to attain full potential as a swimmer.

Prerequisite: Swimmers 8 years and under must ably demonstrate front crawl and back crawl, and be
familiar with breast stroke and butterfly stroke. Swimmers 10
years and under, swimmers 10 years and older (both categories) must ably demonstrate front crawl, back crawl, breast
stroke and butterfly.
Expectations: Swimmers must commit to two-three practices
per week, no less than two swim meets per month and be ready for a
fast-paced competitive environment.
Participants may not miss more than two swim meets per season and must
stay for the duration the meet (swim meets may last from three to five
hours).
For swimmers 8-years old & under, races are 25 yards (a length of the
pool).
For swimmers 9-years and older, races are 50 yards to 100 yards (2 to 4
lengths of the pool).
Parent Volunteers are a vital part of the Sharks Swim Team.
Parents will be expected to volunteer for at least one meet as a ribbon
writer, timer, runner, or scorer, or to be on the committee for the end
of season team dinner.
2011/12 Swim Team season runs from September 19, 2011 March 2012.
2010/11 Swim Team and 2011 Competitive Training participants (only)
may register for 2010/11 Swim Team beginning July 2010.
Prospective new participants must complete time trials (TRY OUTS) before
they may register for the team. Time trials will be held on the
following dates/times, no appointment necessary. Please attend ONE
of the try-outs below. You will be contacted by the Head Coach,
who will inform you if you made the team or not. Prospective
participant parent meeting will be held in August.

Competitive Training
This
program's function is to condition and develop more advanced swimmers
between the ages of 5 to 17 years (in the off-season of swim
team). We also welcome non-swim team swimmers who want to prepare for the
summer swim season or just train year round. Training will include
expert coaching in stroke techniques and competitive skills.
Meets are not scheduled for this program. For more information
